Highlighting the added value of seasonal forecasting

The SECLI-FIRM project aims to demonstrate how improved climate forecasts can add practical and economic value in both the energy and water sectors. Case Study 7 in particular explores how wind and wave conditions can impact marine energy logistics.

With support from our project partners, we created this animation to raise awareness of seasonal forecasting for off-shore maintenance, and the potential benefits that the energy industry might see by utilising it.

The animation follows Helen, an Activity Manager, as she tries to source and book a vessel for off-shore maintenance on a North Sea platform. It presents common issues and concerns in the field and explains how SECLI-FIRM might be able to help.

The SECLI-FIRM project as a whole is at a midway point with the expected final deliverables just beginning development. However, the findings and results we’ve seen so far from our Case Studies are promising. Why not find out more about Case Study 7, and our other case studies here?
